B452 Happy Hour Painting (April 10)
with Alix Rondy
**Dairy Barn Members at the Individual Level or higher enjoy a 10% Discount**
For Ages 16+
To celebrate the incoming spring, we will be painting some beautiful, fresh spring landscapes in the style of Wassily Kandinsky.
Kandinsky was a pioneer of abstract art. His landscapes are bright, bold, and colorful. The goal is less about capturing exactly what a place looks like, and more about capturing how those places feel.
Think about things like bold colors, simplified shapes, and expressive lines rather than perfect realism. Hills might become flowing shapes, trees might become patterns of color, and the sky might be brighter or more dramatic than real life.
We will talk a bit about some of Kandinsky’s landscapes, discuss what makes them successful, and then use those ideas and techniques to imagine and create our own unique works of art.
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Neon Cow Bar will have wine, and beer available for purchase by participants over age 21. (Outside alcohol prohibited.)

By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently use paper resist to enhance their pottery with dynamic, visually engaging designs.

B454 Happy Hour Painting (May 9)
with Alix Rondy

For Ages 16+
Happy Mother’s Day! In celebration of mothers and artists across time and cultures, we will be studying flowers. This workshop's theme is inspired by the almond blossom paintings of Vincent van Gogh, as well as similar works by artists who may have influenced him, including John Russell and Katsushika Hokusai.
A bouquet of live flowers will be provided. (Or you may bring your own! Real fresh flowers are ideal!) Each person (or pair, as applicable) will select a flower to study from.
Students will look closely at their flowers and practice drawing different parts of them—observing their shapes, lines, and patterns. These small studies help explore a subject and get to know it better before turning those observations into a finished piece. By the end of class, you’ll combine what you’ve discovered into your own completed blossom painting.
Participants are welcome to work individually or collaborate. If you attend as a pair—mother and child, partners, or friends—you can observe the same flower together and share ideas as you build your artwork."
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Neon Cow Bar will have wine, and beer available for purchase by participants over age 21. (Outside alcohol prohibited.)
