Color and creativity come together, yet again, in this exciting workshop designed for young artists aged 8-12.
This kids' watercolor workshop expands on previous lessons, instructed by teaching-artist Jean Vandervaart, by introducing the technique of negative (space) painting to achieve unique Cryptid and Spirit-themed works of art.
Negative painting is a method in which the background is painted dark, allowing the lighter color to appear as the design or "positive" shape.
Whether a budding artist or someone who just loves to get creative, this class offers a supportive and inspiring environment for all skill levels. We invite kids to expand their imagination with watercolor! Supplies/materials are included with registration.

Are you or do you know a teen interested in creating public art and/or storytelling projects with our Ohio home state as inspriation? This is a unique opportunity for young art students to explore the creative process from concept to exhibition—creating original imagery and text that reflect their unique perspectives.
Art students will collaborate across multiple panels on a multimedia public art installation as part of Athens County Public Libraries’ Stories in the Park exhibit at Richland Avenue Park. Images of the final artworks and writing will appear on exhibit panels designed by the Athens County Public Libraries’ graphic designer.
