This class is for all students interested in advancing their painting skills and is intended for any skill level and experience. Beginners and more experienced painters alike benefit from class exercises and in-studio personal instruction designed to build confidence in their individual choices while gaining a solid understanding of painting fundamentals.

Using still life set-ups, each of the eight classes covers step-by-step, essential elements found in successful paintings, including but not limited to...

  • How color and value work together to build form.
  • How composition, perspective, and scale combine for the best results.

Special focus will be on how to manage color and enhance the overall experience of painting.  Addressed early in the class will be the proper care and maintenance of painting tools, and the differences between painting mediums, brushes, and canvases.  Oil paints are provided as they are easiest to manage, forgiving, and have a slower drying time.
