Underglaze transfer is a great way to integrate custom, colorful designs onto clay surfaces! This workshop utilizes project-based learning and students will learn both to decorate and construct their clay slabs into handbuilt cylinder forms, a great structure for cups, small planters, pen holders, and more. Students’ underglaze-decorated objects will be fired and finished with a clear glaze, ready for pick-up at The Dairy Barn in approx. 3 weeks. For Ages 16+
Join Quilt National ‘25 exhibiting artist, Brent McGee, for an immersive hand-sewing workshop that transforms fabric into dynamic, sculptural forms. Using techniques borrowed from couture fashion, this class explores intuitive methods for shaping fabric beyond the flat quilt surface. Empowered with needle and thread, students will create a small wall hanging while learning to coax organic, dimensional structures from within. Brandish your needle like a sword, and join the fun as you unearth new forms hiding in the fabric!
Open to all experience levels, this workshop offers a fresh approach to hand-stitching, whether you’re new to needlework or an experienced hand sewer looking for an innovative and expressive technique. Step away from the machine, embrace the art of handwork, and discover the creative possibilities of sculpting with fabric.
This technique utilizes accessible and affordable supplies. Students can review the Materials List of items they are asked to bring. The Dairy Barn will provide the recommended batting and some communally available extra materials.
